POTSDAM – Dana M. Barry, senior technical writer and editor at Clarkson University's Center for Advanced Materials Processing (CAMP), has won her 16th consecutive APEX Award for Publication Excellence.

This honor, presented by Communications Concepts in Springfield, Va., is based on editorial content and overall communications effectiveness and excellence. Barry has received this award annually since 1996.

Her winning entry, the CAMP Annual Report Newsletter: 2009-2010, faired extremely well in the competition. There were more than 3,300 entries from the United States and other countries in the competition. Approximately 957 awards of excellence were distributed in 130 subcategories of 11 major areas.

Barry is the first author of a book chapter about creative engineering design included in Innovations 2010, a publication of the International Network for Engineering Education and Research (2010). Her coauthor is Dean Professor Hideyuki Kanematsu of Suzuka National College of Technology, Japan.

She has over 150 professional publications including 11 books, several book chapters, science encyclopedia entries, journal features, scripts for aired television shows, and music CDs. This work is published in the United States, Japan, England, Australia, Malaysia, India and other countries.

Barry has five graduate degrees, one of which is a Ph.D. in engineering from Osaka University in Japan. Her biographical profile is listed in Marquis Who's Who publications, including Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who of American Women, and others. Also, her biographical entry has been selected to appear in the tenth anniversary edition of the International Who's Who of Professional and Business Women.

In addition to her position at CAMP, Barry is scientific board president for Ansted University, an officer for the Northern New York section of the American Chemical Society, and serves as a visiting professor overseas.
