POTSDAM -- Clarkson University professor/GE Chair in Oil and Gas Systems David Mitlin was named an associate editor for Sustainable Energy & Fuels, a new journal by the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Sustainable Energy & Fuels is an international journal publishing research that contributes to the development of sustainable energy technologies with a particular emphasis on new and next-generation technologies.

Mitlin's electrochemistry-related interests span both renewables and conventional energy topics. He is currently focused on creation of new materials for sodium ion batteries, lithium ion batteries, electrochemical capacitors and for aggressive oil refining environments.

"My aim is to have Sustainable Energy & Fuels become a premier venue for publishing leading science of materials and devices to address the growing list of new end uses," Mitlin said. "A key focus will be 'Beyond-Li' topics, including but not limited to secondary ion batteries based on Na, K, Mg, Al and Ca, battery -- capacitor hybrids, Li-metal batteries, sulfur or selenium batteries, novel supercapacitors, grid-scale aqueous storage, solid state batteries, printable or flexible batteries, etc. Of course, exciting new findings related to lithium ion battery materials and electrolytes will remain of interest."
