A book edited by Clarkson University Professor of Communication & Media Johndan Johnson-Eilola was recently named one of the "Top 100 Books in Technical Communication" by the Society for Technical Communication.

An article in the July/August issue of Intercom, the organization's monthly magazine, listed Johnson-Eilola's book Central Works in Technical Communication as one of the 100 best technical communication books published during the past two decades.

The list was selected from a pool of over 5,000 books published on technical communication since 1991.

Published in 2005, Central Works in Technical Communication is a collection of 32 landmark essays in the field edited by Johnson-Eilola and Stuart A. Selber.

The book is intended to provide students, practicing professionals, and academics with a broad and representative overview of the field.

Johnson-Eilola and Selber selected some of the most influential articles and book chapters published in the field of technical communications over the last 25 years and provide introductions that offer historical and conceptual approaches to understanding the contributions of each included work.

Johnson-Eilola teaches courses in new media, audio production, typography, and design at Clarkson University.

He has authored nearly 50 journal articles and book chapters, and six books.

He received his doctoral degree in rhetoric and technical communication from Michigan Technological University.

The Society for Technical Communication is the world's oldest and largest professional organization devoted to the advancement of technical communication, with more than 11,000 members.

Technical communicators research and create information about technical processes or products directed to a targeted audience through various forms of media.
