Clarkson University Prof. Philip Hopke recently chaired an expert peer review panel on the scientific rigor of environmental monitoring in the oil sands region of Alberta.
The panel recently delivered its final report to Environment and Climate Change Canada and the Alberta Environmental Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Agency.
The panel found that good progress has been made since the Canada-Alberta Joint Oil Sands Monitoring plan was established in 2012.
AEMERA assumed provincial responsibility for the Joint Canada-Alberta Plan for Oil Sands Monitoring upon the proclamation of the Protecting Alberta’s Environment Act April 28, 2014.
