POTSDAM — Mary Margaret M. Small, Clarkson University’s Shipley Center for Innovation director of educational partnerships, was recognized for her leadership in the Empire State STEM Learning Network at its annual meeting in New York City in December.
SUNY Assistant Vice Chancellor Jill Lansing noted Small’s dedication as a founding member of the STEM Learning Network and her continued commitment to advancing STEM learning in the North Country and throughout New York State.
Lansing praised Small for "actively promoting partnerships that engage schools and business and championing programs, such as PTECH and Project-based Learning that will prepare and strengthen New York’s future workforce.”
The annual STEM Network Leadership meeting is designed to foster a dialogue between regional leadership and state decision makers.
At the December gathering, the group met with state Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul, SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher and Stanley S. Litow, IBM vice president and IBM International Foundation president.
The STEM Network Leadership committee is composed of representatives from each of 10 regional Learning Networks. The North Country Network is housed at Clarkson University and serves the seven counties of the North Country Regional Economic Development Council.
