POTSDAM -- Victoria W. Priganc has been appointed chair, director, and associate professor of occupational therapy at Clarkson University.

She received her bachelor of science degree in occupational therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, her master of science degree in movement science and rehabilitation from the University of Vermont, and her Ph.D. in occupational therapy from Nova Southeastern University.

She is certified as a hand therapist by the Hand Therapy Certification Commission, registered as an occupational therapist by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy and licensed as an occupational therapist by the State of Vermont and the State of New York.

Priganc is an experienced educator, evaluator, mentor, therapist, and author. Before coming to this position, she was director of the education track in the post-professional doctor of occupational therapy program at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, where she managed the academic studies of the education track students. Her responsibilities included teaching doctoral-level education classes in a hybrid format, advising students, and mentoring and managing capstone projects.

Prior to that, she served as the fatherhood grant manager at the Visiting Nurse Association of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties in Colchester, Vt., where she managed a $1.6 million collaborative, comprehensive fatherhood program and secured over $1 million in continued federal grant funding. In addition, she has been associate editor of the Journal of Hand Therapy since 2008.

Her teaching experience includes serving as an assistant professor in the Occupational Therapy Program at the University of Southern Maine, Lewiston-Auburn College, where she taught graduate-level courses in kinesiology, foundations, research methods, management and clinical conditions. She also coordinated the student research program.

Priganc's research interests involve the utilization of manual edema mobilization, the management of chronic pain and the utilization of 3D printing in hand therapy. She is also interested in examining blended learning in higher education, health profession settings.

Priganc has written numerous articles for peer-reviewed publications, and has been an invited speaker at numerous professional conferences in the United States, as well as in Australia and Honduras.

Her recent honors include receiving annual grant funding from the U.S. Department of Health Human Services in 2012, 2013 and 2014; being awarded Program Return on Investment Training, 2014, Saint Wall Street LLC; and receiving the Outstanding Committee Member Award, 2008, Research Committee, American Society of Hand Therapists.
