Clarkson appoints assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering

Posted

Sean Banerjee was recently appointed assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at Clarkson University.

He received his bachelor of science in computer engineering, his master of science in computer science, his graduate certificate in computer forensics and his Ph.D. in computer science from West Virginia University.

Banerjee was previously a post-doctoral research associate at the Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Institute. He was also a graduate research assistant at West Virginia University.

Banerjee's research interest lies at the intersection of software engineering, big data, natural language processing and human-machine interaction. He is interested in understanding human behavior in software repositories, visualizing software repositories, augmenting behavioral biometrics, and building large scale multi-modal multi-sensor capture systems for human behavior analysis.

On prior research projects, Banerjee developed a multi-view framework for automated problem report classification, explored bioinformatics-based approaches for document similarity, developed secure authentication systems using behavioral biometrics, and evaluated the impact of noise in assessing reliability in service-based systems using large log files.

Banerjee has taught computer system concepts, software engineering, digital rights, and computer applications. He has tutored students in math, physics, chemistry, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering and economics. He also mentored undergraduate students.

As a consultant/developer, Banerjee established and managed his own software, hardware, networking and web development company for homes and small offices.

He has served as a committee member for software and systems-related projects, published numerous articles and encyclopedia pieces, and spoken at professional conferences. He has also been a reviewer for academic journals.
