Canton's Rachael Huntley earns prestigious SUNY Potsdam Bears' Maxcy/Molnar Award

POTSDAM -- SUNY Potsdam’s Rachael Huntley of Canton has won a SUNY Potsdam Maxcy/Molnar award for the 2017-18 academic year.

The Maxcy/Molnar Award is presented to one female and one male athlete who best combined the qualities of sportsmanship, leadership and athletic achievement. Only seniors who compete in at least one sport for their entire undergraduate careers are eligible.

Huntley, a lacrosse attack who also served as one of the Bears captains, this year earned third team All-SUNYAC honors. She posted career-highs in goals (16), assists (22) and points (38). She collected 21 ground balls, three draw controls and caused seven turnovers.

Huntley has been a playmaker since she came to SUNY Potsdam. This season she tied for fifth for assists in SUNYAC.

The Canton native finished her senior year ranked fifth in total assists with 46 and 17th in scoring with 73 points at SUNY Potsdam.

She graduated with a degree in psychology and a human services minor. She is the daughter of Susan and Robin Huntley. Her career ambition is to be a school counselor.

She attended Hugh C. Williams High School in Canton where she played lacrosse, basketball and swam. She earned first and second team All-Northern lacrosse and swimming honors in high school.
