Lara C. Clemens, of Canton, has been inducted into St. Lawrence University's chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon, the national mathematics honorary society.
Clemens graduated from Hugh C. Williams Senior High School.
Pi Mu Epsilon, established in 1914, has chapters at over 300 colleges and universities across the country.
Its purpose is the promotion of scholarly activity in mathematics among the students in academic institutions.
At St. Lawrence, the chapter sponsors an annual mathematics contest for area high school students.
Membership eligibility varies by class year, but all students must have taken a qualifying number of mathematics courses, and have achieved minimum grade-point averages in those courses, as well as overall, depending upon one's seniority.
