Susannah Sudborough of Canton recently graduated from Emerson College.
Sudborough earned a bachelor of science in political communication.
Approximately 970 bachelor's degrees and more than 350 master's degrees were conferred during commencement, according to a press release from the college.
Acclaimed novelist Alice Sebold, accomplished investigative reporter Juan Gonzalez, and celebrated poet and essayist Danielle Legros Georges each received an honorary doctor of humane letters degree.
Sebold gave the undergraduate address and Legros Georges gave the graduate address.
Emerson College is based in Boston, Mass., opposite the historic Boston Common and in the heart of the city's Theatre District, the release said.
The college has 3,780 undergraduates and 670 graduate students from across the United States and 50 countries.
