POTSDAM -- Canton-Potsdam Hospital pharmacist Regina Scott has earned pharmacotherapy specialist status from the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS), the nation’s leading accreditation organization for pharmacists.
Dr. Scott received her doctor of pharmacy degree with concentration in nephrology from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and completed requirements of her first post-graduate year pharmacy practice residency at CPH.
Scott is an adjunct clinical professor of pharmacotherapeutics at Clarkson University and a clinical pharmacist at CPH where she focuses on antimicrobial stewardship, renal dosing adjustments, anticoagulation, and insulin management.
Scott gained international pharmacy experience as part of a military pharmacy international elective with the United States Air Force Base Pharmacy in Aviano, Italy.
She is a member of the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), New York State Council of Health-System Pharmacists (NYSCHP), and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP).
“We are very proud of our residency program at CPH and I take great pride in the quality of the medical professionals we are producing,” said pharmacist Dr. Jay Delisle, CPH clinical coordinator of pharmacy services and pharmacy residency director. “It excites me to see what each student, intern, and resident eventually does with the clinical base we’ve cultivated.”
“Dr. Scott is the first resident to complete our post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY-1),” Delisle said. “It has been amazing to see the pharmacist she has become and we are very proud of her Board Certification accomplishment.”
The American Pharmacist Association has certified Dr. Scott in pharmacy-based immunization delivery and medication therapy management services, and she completed the teaching and learning certificate program for residents and fellows through ACPHS. In addition to her clinical practice at CPH, Scott is offering individualized medication therapy management appointments at the Cheel Medical Campus, 49 Lawrence Avenue, Potsdam.
“Our Pharmacist Medication Education Program (PMEP) is a comprehensive MTM consultation which includes the following core elements: medication therapy reconciliation and review, updated personal medication record, medication-related action plan, intervention and/or referral, and documentation and follow up. The program offers all patients of St. Lawrence Health System direct access to a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist Pharmacist who can optimize their treatments and education,” said St. Lawrence Health Alliance Ambulatory Care Pharmacist Prof. Ryan Titus.
