CANTON -- The Canton Goldenaires recently gave two “Singing Valentines” scholarship awards to students from Madrid-Waddington Central School.
Sophia Roome and Anna Scott were chosen for their “academic, civic, school participation and sports accomplishments,” according to a press release from the Goldenaires.
The 2015 winners met the chorus Monday night and announced they were both going to attend St. Lawrence University. Roome is planning to major in music therapy and Scott in pre-med.
The funding for these scholarships comes exclusively from the Goldenaires’ Singing Valentine Program, ordered by the people from the community.
Madrid-Waddington Central students also won this award in 2011 and 2014.
