NORWOOD -- Parker Aldous was recently selected as the Potsdam Rotary Club student of the month for February 2017 at Seaway Career and Technical Education Center.

Aldous is a student in the automotive technology program and attends Canton Central School.

He is the son of Stacey and Rodney Aldous.

As a student in the automotive program, Aldous has learned both theoretical and practical shop applications, according to a press release from the school.

He is able to complete a variety of tasks in the automotive repair process, including computer diagnostics, automotive wiring, steering and suspension repair, driveline repairs, brakes and hydraulics, and basics in automotive collision repair, the release said.

In addition, Aldous has worked on career planning, resume writing and leadership skills in his time as a student leader, the release said.

After graduation, using the skills learned in the program, he could obtain an entry-level automotive technology position or further his training at a technical college.

“Parker is the most successful and highly capable student that we have had in the automotive technology program in several years. He has a professional standard that he consistently follows and is a mentor to other students. Parker continuously brings forth the highest quality of workmanship on every project that he works on. Parker’s classroom achievements are at the highest standard and he is always ready to take on a leadership role in any situation,” said Michael Ells, Aldous’ instructor.
