CANTON -- At its June meeting, the Canton Area Zonta Club inducted three new members, Catilin Hill, Becky Fiacco and Audrey Tobin. The women each received a yellow rose, a symbol of the international organization and join a club of 21.
Zonta International was established in Chicago, Ill. in 1911 to further the status of women worldwide, the club said in a news release.
The Canton Club was established in 1986, according to the club.
The Canton Club holds a wine tasting event during Canton’s Winterfest, an auction around the December holidays, sells goodies during Canoe Days in Canton and supports the needs of Renewal House clients, among other activities. Monies raised fund annual local scholarships totaling more than $2,000, and enable the club to contribute to the Warner Cancer Center as well as to other local organizations, the club said.
