NORFOLK -- Jerry Laramay, Dick Barish and Bob Lockhart were recently recognized as “Riders Emeritus” by the American Legion Riders of Post #925.
“This very well deserved honor acknowledges the vast amount of experience and contributions they have offered the motorcycling world for many years,” said Thomas Morrison, secretary at the legion.
The honor also allows them to maintain full membership in the Legion Riders, even if they no longer ride “as much as they would like,” he said.
Laramay has been riding for over 60 years and Dick Barish has been riding for more than 50 years.
Laramay and Barish are both charter members of the American Legion Riders of Post #925.
The Norfolk chapter of the Legion Riders is one of the oldest in the country, and covers all of St Lawrence County, Morrison said.
The chapter celebrated its 10-year anniversary in 2015.
Membership is open to all members of the American Legion family who ride. They will be holding their annual charity ride in July 2017 to support the 10th Mountain Division/Fort Drum Wounded Warrior Fund.
