Campaign memories in Canton
Dueling campaigners were out in force in the village park in downtown Canton as voters were going to the polls Tuesday. Eller Maryna sent this photo of supporters for Democrat Bill Owens and Conservative Doug Hoffman manning picket signs. Owens has been declared the winner with 49 percent of the votes. Hoffman received 45 percent and Republican Dede Scozzafava, who pulled out of the contest Saturday because of low poll numbers after many prominent national Republicans backed Hoffman, garnered 6 percent. On Sunday, Scozzafava declared her support for Owens. Picked 11/4/09.
