The Swimming for Soldiers fundraiser was put in motion by two SUNY Potsdam swimmers, Emily Kanoza and Dan Costa on March 15at the Maxcy Hall Pool, SUNY Potsdam. Money was raised by the entire athletic department and based on the amount raised, athletes would swim laps relay style in honor of our military. The benefit raised $1400 for the day of the event, but almost $2,000 total after donations were made at the event. Athletes swam for a total of 40 minutes. All money was donated to the SUNY Potsdam Operation Military Support Group on Potsdam Campus. The group fundraises to create care packages to send to deployed soldiers overseas; specifically sending to soldiers who went to the four area colleges, Potsdam, Clarkson, St. Lawrence, and Canton.
