Workers prepare to install a new crucifix at St. Mary's Church in Potsdam. This hand-carved and hand-painted crucifix is a replica of the orignal by Florentine Italian artist Cimabue, who lived from 1240 to 1302. The orignal was done in 1287-1288 but was damaged in the Arno River flood in 1966. This replica was created in the Demetz art studio in Ortisei, Northern Italy, where woodcarving dates back to the 16th century.
