About twenty-five students from Participation in Government, Civics and AP Government at Potsdam Central had an opportunity to hear Governor Cuomo speech at in the Jules Center at Jefferson Community College on Friday, January 14, 2011. He called on Northern New Yorkers to support his agenda - and to push the legislators in attendance to do so, as well. "I have power over the Legislature when they look at me and they see you behind me." This was an excellent opportunity for the students to hear about the state of government in New York. Potsdam students were chosen to attend because our school is one of sixteen schools participating in a weekly interactive webcast series called "Albany at Work" aimed at helping high school students learn about and keep updated on the workings of New York State government. The trip to Watertown was organized by Patrick Brady, the Superintendent, at the request of the Governor’s office. Governor Cuomo campaigned on a promise of making state government more transparent and responsive to the citizens.
