Fun shoot in Norfolk
Monday, April 9, 2018 - 2:47 pm

The Norfolk Rod and Gun Club recently wrapped up its 2018 Junior Archery League with a three-night 3D target fun shoot and an awards banquet. Pizza, wings and cake were served to all in attendance, 'thanks to Smiths Pizzeria in Norfolk and Amvets Post 4 in Massena for the use of their kitchen to cook the wings,' event organizers said in an email. The junior league is for children from ages 4 to 17 and starts the first Tuesday in January each year. It runs for 11 weeks with archers shooting on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays nights starting at 6 p.m. The instructors teach safety first, then work on stance, form, sighting and release. The league 'had an excellent year again with 64 students attending,' event coordinators said. 'Thanks go to Sandi Cockayne for registrations, score keeping and organizing the banquet, to Fred Cockayne, Larry Butler, Sue Smith, Peter Dibble, Nick Knowlton and Nate Dold for instructing, and to all the parents that helped with score keeping.'
