St. Regis Mohawk Tribe recently donated to Ohero:kon rites of passage

The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe recently donated $20,000 to the Ohero:kon rites of passage. From left, fourth-year Ohero:kon participant Lucas Beeson (age 17), sub-chiefs Shelley Jacobs and Cheryl Jacobs, fourth-year Ohero:kon Lead Auntie Karakwino Tina Square and Ohero:kon Lead Uncle Tehawisoron Kenny Perkins. Ohero:kon is a four-year traditional rites of passage ceremony that has been revived to help adolescents transition into adulthood by strengthening them spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically, according to the tribe.
