An estimated 300 people marched Saturday from the site of the former General Motors on State Route 37 in Massena through the U.S. Port of Entry onto the International Bridge to Cornwall Island and then up Three Nations Bridge past the Canadian Port of Entry and into the city of Cornwall, Ont. Marchers then performed a dance at the Brookdale Avenue traffic circle. They were protesting government infringement on the rights of First Nations people. Massena Rescue Squad's A-212 And Akwesasne Mohawk Ambulance's Unit 3 responded to a request made by the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne and the US Customs and Border Protection to stage during the "Idle No More" march. No injuries were reported during the five-hour event, except for a few cold fingers and toes, according to Randy Montour, second chief of the Massena Rescue Squad, who submitted this photo.
