Canton Garden Club members Ann Spencer, Pat Furgal and Sally McElhearn beautify the front of the Silas Wright House with colorful plantings that add to the inviting air of the historic house, which was home to Silas Wright Jr., the 14th Governor of New York State (1844-1846). Today this historic site, 3 E. Main St., Canton, is home to the St. Lawrence County Historical Association’s museum and is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday noon to 4 p.m., Friday noon to 8 p.m. Admission to the museum is free; admission to the archives is free for members and children, $2.50 for college students, and $5 for the general public.
