MASSENA -- The first Zombie Run to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Massena, 5K and 2.5K runs that will pit humans against zombie swarms on the John Story Trail, is set to start at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26.

Each runner will wear a flag football-style belt with four “Health Flags.” Make it past the zombies with at least one of your Health Flags left and you survive. If the zombies take all of your flags, you’ll finish “undead.”

People may participate as runners, zombies or spectators.

Your mission at this run is not speed, it’s to out-smart and out-maneuver the Zombies to reach the end safely with health flags left. Participants will receive a “Great Futures Start Here” Boys & Girls Club wristband, so you can boast about your skills as an apocalypse legend and show your support for the cause. Post-race refreshments will be provided.

Human runners/walkers should arrive at the Churchill Avenue Extension and the John Story Trail at Massena Central School before 10:30 a.m. for check-in. Zombies will need to be there by 9:30 a.m. for make-up and instructions.

An advance registration fee is $25 through Saturday, Oct. 19. After that, it’s $30.
