OGDENSBURG – The Lee C. Hurteau “Zombie Fun Run 5K” will be held at the AmVets Post 19 Ladies Auxiliary, 215 Ford St. Oct. 26 at 10 a.m.
Runners will register at 9 a.m. and zombies register the night before at 5 p.m. and will be given their assignments. Zombies must wear full costume the day of the run.
There is a $35 pledge fee and participants will receive a t-shirt and three flags. A $100 pledge receives an extra flag, wear a Halloween costume and get another flag. Pledge forms will be available at the AmVets. All pledges must be brought in during registration.
Zombies chase the runners and try to grab a flag and those with the most flags at end of race will receive a prize.
Proceeds will be donated to the Viet Nam Veterans Memorial Fund Education Center Building in Washington, DC. The center will honor the men and women who died after leaving Viet Nam of war related illnesses.
Mr. Hurteau died of cancer, which has been linked to his Agent Orange exposure. He served in the Army in Viet Nam in 1966-1967.
