CANTON -- The Yoga Loft will hold several upcoming events on a regular basis.

Saturdays starting Jan. 10, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Cintia Hongay will lead “Focused Asana” classes. Each will focus on a specific set of postures (asanas) designed to strengthen, stretch and open a targeted area of the body. Special emphasis will be placed on “trouble areas” caused by sedentary lifestyles, overall bad posture, etc. In addition, participants will learn complementary breathing exercises and simple chair yoga exercises to do at home or at work. Beginners are welcome.

A new eight-week series of “Little Lotus Yoga for Young Children” with Sarah Scafidi-McGuire begins Jan. 15 at 9:30 a.m. Kids and adults alike will participate in yoga poses, dancing, stories, relaxation and a craft.

On Thursdays starting Jan. 29 from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Erica Sharpe will begin “Yoga for Rejuvenation” designed to re-align, engage, energize and de-stress the physical body while clearing the mind. Each "Rejuvenation" class consists of a moderately energetic yoga flow followed by Yoga Nidra, a deep, extended guided relaxation. Done in “Savasana” (relaxation pose) Yoga Nidra facilitates “yogic sleep,” helps to improve memory and helps to break negative habits. It is suitable for all levels of yoga experience.

On Fridays beginning Jan. 30 from 6 to 7 p.m., Erica Sharpe will offer a partner yoga series. Students will explore human touch, teamwork and togetherness. All levels of experience are welcome.

Also on Fridays beginning Jan. 30 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., Efrat Ezra will offer a new morning hatha yoga class. Centering, warm-ups, preparatory poses, classic yoga postures and resting poses will be described and demonstrated in detail. Students will be guided and assisted in postures leading to greater awareness, stability, strength and flexibility. This class is appropriate for both beginning and experienced students desiring to focus on a personal yoga practice.
