POTSDAM -- An introductory class session for “Yoga for a Healthy Spine” is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14, from 10:30 a.m.-noon, at Trillium Yoga Center, 42 Elm St.
The workshop cost is $15. The session will give participants the opportunity to explore methods and modifications for practicing yoga safely and reaping yoga’s many benefits.
Traditional yoga postures will be taught, tailored, and practiced based on individual needs. All levels of experience can benefit. Posture options, chairs, and other props will be offered allowing participants to work and progress at their own level.
Those interested in building and maintaining spinal health, or have a diagnosis of osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, or osteopenia, will benefit from this class.
“Yoga for a Healthy Spine” will be taught by Jean Benvenuto (RYT-200). Diagnosed with osteoporosis, she has researched yoga practices that can help build strength and flexibility, while at the same time identifying and avoiding those practices which may be unsafe or even dangerous.
Based on this workshop an eight week class, focused on creating a personalized yoga practice, will be scheduled for late Fall.
For more information or to pre-register for this workshop, Jean may be reached at benvenut@twcny.rr.com.
