POTSDAM -- A monthly world cheese tour on the second Thursday each month begins Thursday, Oct. 9 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Potsdam Food Co-op, 24 Elm St.
“Say Cheese Please” will start at a windy island in the Baltic Sea, where St. Clemens Danish Blue cheese was created as an alternative to Roquefort.
This award-winning, salty, blue takes it up a notch from the milder blue cheese offerings. Next stop is Italy, for Auricchio aged provolone, a nutty, pungent cheese quite different from its American counterpart.
The Co-op will have suggestions on how to enjoy these cheeses at home, including wine and spirit pairings, and movie pairings for cheese-loving armchair world travelers.
The Potsdam Food Co-op is open daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is a member-owned cooperative grocery store where everyone is welcome to shop and anyone is welcome to join.
