Workshops on arts grants Saturday in Potsdam, Thursday in Gouverneur, Aug. 26 in Ogdensburg

The St. Lawrence County Arts Council is offering two new grant programs for eligible North Country artists, with workshops.

The Public Art Fellowships will commission new work to engage the community and are open to local artists.

The Teaching Artists’ Fund will support partnerships between artists and kindergarten through 12th grade schools to complement existing school curricula. Both local artists and art organizations may apply.

The Community Arts program funds community art experiences. Local municipalities, public libraries and non-profit organizations may apply.

Free information workshops about art funding will be taught by Suzy McBroom, grant coordinator.

Workshops will be held Saturday, June 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the council, 51 Market St., Potsdam; Thursday, June 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Reading Room Association of Gouverneur, 60 Church St.; and Monday, Aug. 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ogdensburg Free Library, 312 Washington St.
