MASSENA – A Workers’ Memorial Day Celebration will be held Saturday, April 28, at 1 p.m. The rally to honor workers who have lost their lives or were injured on the job will be at the intersection of North Main, Andrews and Phillips Streets, at the Workers’ Memorial Monument.
Each year in honor of Workers’ Memorial Day the AFL-CIO releases its annual Death on the Job report. This year’s report, “Death on the Job: The Toll of Neglect,” reveals that in 2009, 4,340 workers were killed on the job, while an estimated 50,000 died from occupational diseases.
The event is sponsored by the Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties Central Trades and Labor Council.
