CANTON -- The St. Lawrence County Branch of AAUW is again partnering with SUNY Canton for their Women in Engineering Day on Wednesday, May 17, from 9 a.m.-1:15 p.m., in Neveldine Hall at the Canino School of Engineering Technology.

Other cosponsors include the Young Women’s Leadership Institute, New York State C-STEP and Arconic.

“Last year, 235 girls from 11 St. Lawrence County school districts attended Women in Engineering Day,” said AAUW Branch president Betty Connolly, South Colton. “AAUW’s collaboration with SUNY Canton and the other WIE partners is giving hundreds of county girls important confident with technology. We know these are the high-paying jobs of the future and these girls are taking the first step toward that future.”

Girls in grades 7-11 can sign up for a wide variety of hands-on engineering demonstrations that range from alternative energy - experiment with wind turbine and solar PV – to water quality testing, laser light communications, video editing, and many more.

In addition, they will hear a keynote from Cynthia J. Manson, principal at Industrial Economics, Incorporated.

Manson has over 15 years of experience in applied regulatory analysis, market analysis, and program evaluation.
