WINTHROP -- The American Legion Post 514, 675 St. Hwy. 11 C, will host a reunion of the Civilian Conservation Corps. alumni, family and friends at 6 p.m. June 9.
The reunion will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the CCC with stories and photos.
The CCC was created as part of President Roosevelt’s New Deal to relieve poverty and unemployment.
Author Marty Podskoch will give a PowerPoint presentation on the history of the CCC. Podskoch will also sign copies of his new book “Adirondack Civilian Conservation Corps. Campus: Its History, Memories and Legacy.”
