MASSENA – The New York Power Authority will host its annual Wildlife Festival on the grounds of the Hawkins Point Visitors Center, Barnhart Island, Saturday, Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The admission-free event will feature fun for the entire family with exhibits of live animals, nature displays, arts, crafts and entertainment.
The World of Wildlife and Educational Encounters (WOWEE) will again be returning with a variety of exotic and endangered animals. WOWEE volunteers will provide two educational shows at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Audience members can enjoy the interactive games during both shows. In between shows, WOWEE volunteers will be available to answer questions about the exotic and endangered animals.
Mary Benvenuto from Reptiles Forever will return to the festival to showcase a variety of insects and reptiles, including a python and a 50 pound turtle. Other exhibitors include the Department of Environmental Conservation, the Thompson Park Zoo, Jeff Taylor and the Wild Animal Experience, Page Wildlife with Birds of Prey and the Robert Moses Nature Center. Visitors will also be able to enjoy a petting zoo, craft projects and wagon rides.
