Founder’s Weekend

OGDENSBURG: Founder’s Weekend July 21-22, 10 a.m., Fort La Présentation historic site; Colonial trade demonstrations, children’s muster and scavenger hunt, historic talks with Jack Frost, English Country dancing demonstrations, tomahawk throwing, land and water battle reenactments, fire starting demonstration and cartridge rolling; Jack Frost will present a “Synopsis of the French and Indian War,” each day at 1 p.m. prior to the start of the land battles; www.fort1749.org.

Seaway Festival

OGDENSBURG: 58th annual Ogdensburg International Seaway Festival, scheduled for July 21 through 29; children’s fishing derby, huge fireworks display, antique and classic car show, carnival rides, great food, live entertainment; called “the biggest family reunion” in St. Lawrence County, the Seaway Festival traditionally draws thousands of attendees at events held throughout the week, including what organizers claim is the biggest parade in the region; celebrations of Ogdensburg’s 150th Birthday planned; full schedule at ogdensburgseawayfestival.org.
