Geology lecture

CANTON: St. Lawrence University’s Department of Geology will host distinguished scholar Patricia Kelley as the 2018 guest speaker for the Susan Caroline Ferguson Memorial Lecture in Geology, free and open to the public, 5:30 p.m., Bloomer Auditorium, Brown Hall, room 122; Kelley’s lecture, titled “Evolution and Creation: Conflicting or Compatible?” will address whether evolution is in conflict with creation, or whether there is a valid way to reconcile the two; www.stlawu.edu/geology, 315-229-5851.

MASSENA: About Boating Safely Course from U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Massena Flotilla, 5-9 p.m., Nicandri Nature Center at Robert Moses State Park; two days Sept. 25 and 27; meets requirements for the operation of motorboats and personal watercraft in all states; instructors are local auxiliary members with years of experience; both interactive class sessions must be attended; boating safety certificate will be issued after completion; $35 per person, family rate available; 315-842-3206.
