Child care center opens

POTSDAM: SUNY Potsdam holding ribboncutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of a new dedicated facility to house the College's Child Care Center, 185 Outer Main St., at 3:30 p.m.; families, children, faculty, staff and elected officials will be on hand for the ceremony, including Assemblymember Addie A. E. Jenne, who secured $6 million in funding for the project; tours of the building will be offered; open to the public; potsdam.edu/faculty/spccc.

Preservers, gardeners

CANTON: Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Master Preservers and Master Gardener volunteers will be available at the Canton Farmers Market, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Canton Village Green, to answer horticulture and food preservation questions; will also test soil samples for PH and pressure canner gauges for accuracy; all services are free; info: mpf65@cornell.edu, 315-379-9192, stlawrence.cce.cornell.edu/events.
