Summer movie day

MASSENA: “Beat the Heat Summer Movie Days,” every Tuesday in July and August at the admission-free Frank S. McCullough, Jr. Hawkins Point Visitors Center and Boat Launch; hosted by The New York Power Authority; full day of free movies and popcorn; family-friendly films will be shown at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the visitors center’s air-conditioned auditorium; also hands-on exhibits at the Hawkins Point Visitors Center, which presents information on such themes as electricity generation and the St. Lawrence-FDR project, basics of electricity and uses of electricity, and panoramic view of the project’s power dam; 315-764-0226 ext. 716-6302, www.nypa.gov/vc/stlaw.htm.

Services for the blind

GOUVERNEUR: Info session, hosted by Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired of Northern New York (ABVINNY), Gouverneur Public Library 2-4 p.m., board room; on new services the agency is offering for children, youth, and adults who are blind or visually impaired residing in St. Lawrence County; if eligible for the agency’s free services, an intake assessment may be conducted, or an appointment scheduled; ABVINNY will provide weekly outreach services and address the gap in transportation to their headquarters in Jefferson County; 315-782-2451, O.K-Amadou@abvinny.org.

Healing from Loss

POTSDAM: Trillium Wellness Center will host Healing from Loss, with Sarah Pickard, 6-7:30 p.m.; for anyone who has experienced loss from the death of a loved one, divorce, or estrangement; focus will be to learn ways to help heal energetically and reconnect with life and purpose; stand alone class, monthly gathering planned to follow in the fall; ongoing classes will include speakers, activities, and fun social outings; fee is $20; 860-488-1895, trilliumyogacenter.com.
