Crane Candlelight Concerts

POTSDAM: 2018 Crane Candlelight Concerts, featuring Crane Chorus and Crane Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Jeffrey Francom and Joel Schut, with Broadway and opera star Lisa Vroman '79, soprano, and Crane West African Drum and Dance Ensemble, 3 and 7:30 p.m., Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall; Mountain Lake PBS will film the concert for syndicated broadcast; live broadcast on Crane School of Music YouTube channel at 7:30; streamed on www.potsdam.edu/academics/Crane/streaming; both concerts are free, audience members are invited to bring a donation of canned goods or non-perishable items to benefit area food pantries.

‘For Movement’s Sake’

POTSDAM: 2018 Student Choreographers Concert, titled "For Movement's Sake," presented by SUNY Potsdam Department of Theatre and Dance, 2 p.m., Dance Theater, Performing Arts Center; showcase of 22 choreographic works by undergraduate dancers, including an array of styles, ranging from contemporary to jazz to African dance; second program of two parts, first part held Nov. 30 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 1 at 2 p.m.

‘Bocn!’ Play

CANTON: St. Lawrence University students enrolled in the Do-It-Yourself Theatre course presenting production of Lisa Loomers play “Bocn!;” 8 p.m., SLU Edison R. Miles Black Box Theater; focuses on the story of Miguel, a charming and curious 12 year-old with a big mouth or bocn, who is forced to flee his village and leave his family behind; production is entirely student driven; humor, music and some mystical elements geared toward young audiences; DIY students have designed magical costumes, masks and some scenic surprises; reserve tickets at: www.stlaw.edu/pca, 315-229-5748; tickets also available day of show at Gulick Theatre Box Office.

Christmas concert

WADDINGTON: Christmas concert, 6 p.m., First Presbyterian Church; organ performances by Dr. Sondra Goldsmith Proctor, organist in residence at St. Lawrence University’s Gunnison Chapel and Joan Loomis, church organist; also violinist Abigail Evans, MWCS high school select choir, Alex Hammond, Amy Rivera, Ad Hoc Singers; refreshments following, concert open to public, everyone welcome.
