Colton Winterfest

COLTON: Annual Colton Winterfest begins, “Rockin’ in the Great South Woods; silent auctions, quilt show, remembrance trees, open skating; https://www.townofcolton.com/winterfest.html; 10 a.m.-4 p.m. quilt show continues; 10 a.m.-4 p.m. recreational snowshoeing and cross-country skiing at Catamount Lodge & Forest; 2-4 p.m. history presentation about dog sledding in South Colton and competing in Iditarod by Spencer Thew at CPCS.

Wedding Expo

HOGANSBURG: Wedding expo hosted by Laura’s Bridal, Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Winter Ballroom, 873 State Route 37, noon-3 p.m.; tips on planning a wedding from vendors on hand, lorists, dress designers, bakers and photographers; door prizes and Laura’s Bridal will showcase its 2019 Wedding Collections; free to attend.

ADK club presentation

POTSDAM: Wilderness Education Leadership II - From West Elk, Colorado to Bob Marshall, Montana, free slide presentation by Laurentian Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK), public invited; Potsdam Civic Center Community Room above the police station, 7 p.m.; follow the story of four students taking a Wilderness Leadership course with SUNY Potsdam in two remote National Wilderness Areas in Colorado and Montana; relive their adventure as they learn to adapt to the elements, respond to chance encounters of the 4-legged, toothed variety, and face unique aspects of wildland travel; John Rendon narrates the trip, slideshow of the breathtaking Rockies scenery.
