Wet weather may move Carmelo Trio concert inside Wednesday in Colton

COLTON – A new rain location has been announced for the Caramelo Trio concert Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 6:30 p.m. If no rain, the event will be held at the Colton Gazebo featuring Latin American musical styles such as rumba, bossa nova, waltzes and more.

The performance may need to be moved indoors due to rain in the weather forecast and because of construction underway at Swift Field in South Colton the backup rain location on Wednesday night is now St. Patrick’s Church Parish Center on State Highway 56 just south of Colton-Pierrepont Central School.

The Parish Center is handicap accessible with bathroom facilities, chairs for seating and adequate space for the Colt’s Pride Booster Club to provide food and drinks as done at all Gazebo Performances.

Potsdam-based musicians Beth Robinson (cello), Oscar Sarmiento (guitar) and Steve Farina (percussion) were members of the long-running ensemble, Piquant, which played for over a decade on concert stages from Sacket's Harbor to Saranac Lake to Norwood.

During the past few years Caramelo Trio has been featured on North Country Public Radio's morning program “The Eight O'clock Hour” and has performed in the Saranac Lake Summer Concert Series and the Brockport Summer Concert Series plus in several local presentations.

The Gazebo is located behind the Museum at 95 Main Street. Audience participants should bring their own chairs or blankets to sit on.

Bathroom facilities in the Museum will be open to the public. Volunteers will be on hand to help people needing assistance. Hot dogs and hamburgers, cold drinks and other goodies will be available to purchase from the Colt’s Pride Booster Club.

There is no admission fee to attend the summer series.

More information about the performances and other summer activities is available at www.townofcolton.com and on the town’s Facebook page.
