
OGDENSBURG – The Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club, Walgreens and the St. Lawrence Health Initiative to offer a Wellness Festival on the St. Lawrence on Saturday, June 12 at Ogdensburg's Greenbelt.
The day will begin with a 5K Walk/Run sponsored by Claxton-Hepburn, with registration in the Dobisky Visitor Center's parking lot from 7:45-8:30 a.m.
Walkers will begin at 8:30 a.m. and runners will take off at 9 a.m.
The Run/Walk will follow the Maple City Trail.
The cost to pre-register is $10 and race day will be $15. All proceeds from the Walk/Run will benefit the St. Lawrence Health Initiative.

The annual Flag Day Parade and Ceremony, hosted by the Ogdensburg Elks Lodge, will begin at 10 a.m. at Patterson Street and Green Street and head up Green Street, ending at the Elks Lodge at 332 Caroline Street where they will hold their annual Flag Day Ceremony.
The Elks Lodge will be also hosting a chicken barbeque that day beginning at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $7.50 eat-in or take out. The menu consists of barbeque chicken, potato or macaroni salad, baked beans and a roll.
Beginning at 11 a.m., in Library Park, the St. Lawrence Health Initiative will be providing free health screenings, including cholesterol, glucose and BMI testing.
Claxton-Hepburn will have representation from their Diabetes Education Program, Wound Healing Center and Rehab Services all of whom will be passing out information and giveaways. Rehab Services will also be demonstrating its anodyne therapy and doing sneaker checks.
Walgreens will have their registered pharmacist available for free consultations and will be offering a blood pressure screening.
Along with the Farmers Market, that runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and features local farmers and artisans, a variety of other activities will be offered.
Entertainment in the gazebo will be provided by Jim Fitzgerald and Friends and Richard Ward's music students from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club will provide physical activities and challenges for children and arts and crafts projects from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Additionally, 12 other vendors will be there selling goods.
Other activities going on that day are a Children's Sidewalk Art Contest sponsored by Walgreens, hula hooping with the St. Lawrence Health Initiative, the Army Exercise Yard, skateboard demonstrations by Barrier Skate Shop, temporary tattoos, face painting, caricatures and a visit from the Dairy Princess who will be passing out free cheese and Breyer’s yogurt samples.
Stewart's stores will be giving out free frozen yogurt and Price Chopper will be selling fresh fruit snacks. Q102.9 will also be doing a remote broadcast at the Wellness Festival beginning at 9 a.m.
