CANTON – An open house celebrating the 2010 Adult/Teen Summer Reading Program, "Water Your Mind," will be held Wednesday, July 14 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Canton Free Library.
Participants will receive a program welcome packet, and refreshments will be served. A garden tour is also planned and will feature the basics of water gardening hosted by Anneke Larrence. A spa event where participants may soak away their summer stresses with a eucalyptus footbath and warming paraffin hand dip is also scheduled.
The summer reading program officially begins July 19 and run for 6 weeks until Aug. 25 at the Canton Free Library, with registration continuing through the duration of the program.
Participants, ages 14 to adult, may sign up at the patron services desk for this primarily self-directed program or call the library at 386-3712.
Patrons who register will read as many "novel-length" fiction and/or nonfiction books as they can, turn in slips for each book read and be eligible to win weekly prizes generously donated by local businesses.
Readers may choose from a list of selected titles featuring the word "water" in the titles. Other titles may be read also.
The first prize drawing will take place on Friday, July 23, and the Grand Prize will be awarded on Wednesday, August 25 to the participant who has read the most books during the program.
