WADDINGTON – The Lake St. Lawrence Arts Gallery, 10 Main St. is offering the following classes in coming weeks

“Introduction to Drawing” for Homeschooled Children. This fine arts class begins Thursday, Feb. 8, from 10 a.m. to noon, and runs on Thursdays for six weeks until March 15. Budding artists 8-18 years who are homeschooled will develop their artistic skills through a series of exercises teaching the foundation skills of drawing. Each class builds off skills learned in the previous class, so attendance at each class is important. All supplies, snacks and an art show at the end of the 6-week period are provided. Up-front fee of $140 required. Classes are limited to 8 budding artists. Taught by Julie Pratt.

“Figure Drawing” class will be offered Saturday, Feb. 10, from 10 a.m.-noon. Learn the basics of gesture drawing, proportions, relationships, composition, perspective and more, taught by artist Julie Pratt. Basic drawing materials will be used. All supplies included. Live model provided. For ages 18 and up. Cost is $20.

“Bugs and Bug Tins” will be offered Saturday, Feb. 10, from 2-4 p.m. For kids of all ages. These tins are a house for the bugs students will create. Students will choose their own color scheme with a variety of ribbons, paper, tape, or stickers to make a special house for the bugs. All supplies included. Cost is $5. Walk-ins welcome.

“Intro to Decorative Painting” will be offered in two sessions, Wednesday, Feb. 21 and Wednesday Feb. 28, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Students will learn simple painting techniques to use on metal, glass, wood, canvas, or other surfaces using acrylic paint. No painting background needed. First session is an introduction to brushes, paint, and starting a project. All materials are supplied. Cost is $15.

“Wacky Sacks, 2nd Edition!” will be offered Saturday, Feb. 24, from 1-3 p.m. Students will learn to mold Play Doh into little balls or snakes and drop them into the neck of a balloon to fill it, then decorate their balloon with markers to make it their own. Cost is $2 each. Walk-ins welcome.

“Sterling Silver Chain-Maille Bracelet Workshop” will be held Sunday, Feb. 25, from 1-4 p.m. Chain maille jewelry is made by connecting individual jump rings together in a consistent pattern (or weave) to create earrings, necklaces, bracelets, key chains, fobs, etc. Students will learn a simple weave which introduces the tool work used to make these designs, and will leave with a bracelet using a classic “twisted” design. All materials are supplied and no experience is necessary. Cost is $25.

Preregistration and prepayment is required for the classes. Go www.lakestlawrencearts.com website to register or call The Gallery at 315-308-4410
