POTSDAM -- The Local Living Venture is hosting an Indian dinner at the First Presbyterian Church, Elm St. on Oct. 18th, and they are looking for volunteers.
They will help with set up, cooking, and clean up, and will dine for free. No experience is necessary.
There are two-hour shifts set up from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. that day.
Tasks include setting up the dining room, washing vegetables and potatoes, boiling and chopping potatoes, cooking various Indian specialties (with guidance), serving food, being a "runner" (assisting organizers as needed), dishwashing, table clearing, breaking down the dining room, and cleaning up.
The menu includes moong daal (yellow lentil soup) fried rice, mixed vegetable curry, potato curry, cucumber raita (yogurt and cucumber with exotic spices) and halwa (sweet grain pudding.)
Donations of food from area farms are being sought to offset expenses.
