CHIPPEWA BAY -- The Friday Evening Backyard Concert Series, hosted by the community club, gets underway July 7 and runs through Aug. 11.

These free events will run from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the back yard of the community club. In case of rain, shows will be relocated to the Chippewa Bay Fish and Game Club.

The following shows are scheduled:

• Friday, July 7 -- Chippewa Breeze, a local multi-talented group, opens the series. Put your dancing shoes on and enjoy the sounds of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s as this popular local band entertains the crowd with their authentic rendition of “oldies” and classic rock music.

• Friday, July 14 -- Tas Cru & Mary Ann Casale entertains with amazing sounds of the blues. This duo performs acoustically and their repertoire includes music heard regularly on blues radio worldwide. Tas, a well-known performer in the genre, has entertained throughout the United States.

• Friday July 21 -- Steelin’ Country will perform the sounds of “real country” music. This group from Lisbon is new on the local concert scene and is comprised of area musicians who love to play music from the past, along with original compositions written by some group members.

• Friday, July 28 -- The Gathering returns again this summer after a crowd pleasing performance last year. This multi-talented trio from Norwood has played extensively around upstate NY and in NYC at the NY Songwriter Showcase. Their Crane School of Music roots have allowed them to explore and perform music from a large number of genres.

• Friday, Aug. 4 -- Big Papa and Margarita Mike, an acoustic duo, plays guitar and steel pan drum and brings the “tropics” to Chippewa Bay as they perform the music of Olde Town Key West, Jimmy Buffet, Zac Brown, Bob Marley and more including steel pan, plus great Classic Rock and 80's.

• Friday, Aug. 11 -- Northern Exposure rounds out the summer lineup. This amazingly talented group from Canton will have you “moving and grooving” to an eclectic mix of folk, acoustic and classic rock influenced by great singer-songwriters of the 1950s through today, including James Taylor, Paul Simon, John Fogerty and the Beatles.

After a successful start last summer, this year’s series is being made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the St. Lawrence County Arts Council.
