OGDENSBURG -- The Frederic Remington Art Museum will host their next Art Highlights and Tea at 2 p.m. Jan. 13.

It will include a talk by Robert Charron, Andrea Smith and Trudy Fitelson.

The presentation is “Places Lost And Found: Reimagining Ogdensburg in the Post Urban Renewal Era.”

Charron, an architect, will present a brief overview of Ogdensburg’s history from the late 19th century to the urban renewal projects of the 1960s and 1970s. He will also outline recent community revitalization projects throughout northern and central New York.

Smith, the city's director of planning and development, will discuss recent developments since urban renewal that she says are designed to improve the quality of life in the city. They include brownfield remediation, waterfront development, land use strategies and economic development.

Fitelson will comment on the economic benefits of tourism and historic preservation. She is active in historic preservation in Rochester and the 1,000 Islands. In 2003, she received a lifetime achievement award from Preservation League of New York State. She is a founder of the 1,000 Island Park Historical Society and a Founder of the 1,000 Islands Park Historic Preservation and Architectural Review Board.

The talk is free and open to the public

Tea will be served at 3 p.m., courtesy of Ann Groome and friends.

The cost is $10 for museum members and $15 for non-members.
