LOUISVILLE -- Upstate Comic Con will host their next convention with collectible card game tournaments, panels, art and cosplay contests, comic book vendors and more on Sept. 5 at Louisville Arena from noon to 8 p.m.

The event will also include a Junior Comic Con from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event will raise money for the Massena Boys and Girls Club.

“So far in our brief history we have had the privilege of donating $1,728.35 to charities right here in the North Country,” event coordinator Elijah Winfrey said.

This year, the group aims to raise $750 for the Massena Boys and Girls Club.

“While it’s a big goal we believe that we can achieve this with the support of the community,” Winfrey said.

This year’s convention will include Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh tournaments with cash prizes. There will be multiple games throughout the day, with the winners all taking home cash.

“We figure this is a good way for serious players to earn cash towards their next deck of cards,” Winfrey said.

There will also be an art contest, cosplay contest and many comic book vendors, including Play The Game Read The Story and Brent Remmington.

Special guests will include:

- Blakeley Longoria, winner of last year’s contest at Upstate Comic Con and is known by her Cosplay Name “LittlemissHarls”

- Shooter Storm, a wrestler who has previously been seen on the international TV show “Ring Warriors.”

- Brandon Wright, an award-winning film maker best known for his YouTube series “Wright At The Movies,” where he reviews the latest flicks.

There will also be a Jurassic Park Jeep, modeled after the a vehicle used in one of the first installments from the series, provided by award-winning filmmaker Travis Shatraw. People can get their picture taken with it for $5 for general admission and $1 for VIP.

Tickets are $12 for general admission and $20 for VIP.

VIP passes include a limited edition poster, five free event tickets, front row seating at every panel, one hour of early access (get in at 11 a.m.), VIP bracelet and a hot pass with a plastic sleeve.

The Junior Comic Con will take place in the arena’s banquet room. It is for ages 3 to 10. Admission is $3.

Activities will include inflatables from BD Entertainment, a “Superhero Boot Camp” obstacle course from Massena fitness center The Temple, a cosplay contest and an art contest.

Upstate Comic Con organizers are still taking sign-ups for artists and vendors. Artist tables are $10.

Vendor tables are $25 per table and $10 for each additional table.
