Upcoming food showcase on Sept. 23 and dinner Sept. 27 in Potsdam features locally grown and produced products

POTSDAM -- PACES Dining Services at SUNY Potsdam will host two local food events in September.

A local foods showcase in partnership with Renzi Brothers of Watertown will take place in the Barrington Student Union from 1 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23. PACES will also present a local food dinner at the Lehman Dining Center from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27

Along with Renzi Brothers foods, the local foods showcase will feature samples and product information from Puccia & Sons, Chobani Yogurt, Three Bears Bakery and Pepsi Bottlers of Ogdensburg.

The dinner at Lehman Dining Center will feature locally grown and produced products from a variety of area vendors, including Donahue Farms in Malone, Daniel Martin’s Farm Stand, S&B Maple Products, Glazier Meats and local orchards.

Campus community members can use a meal swipe, flex, FSP, Bear Express or guest passes. Cash and credit cards are also accepted. Cash entry price is $12, plus tax.

The menu includes, herb roasted chicken, Brussels sprouts with bacon and butter, veggie burgers made from local produce, parmesan acorn squash, hamburgers, hot dogs, local breads and cheese, lemon scented beans, stuffed cabbage rolls (seitan or beef),oxtail stew, Montreal seasoned beef, and desserts featuring local fruits.

In 2015, PACES purchased just over $500,000 worth of goods from thirty-seven New York State vendors; and this year, to date it has spent approximately $487,000 worth of goods from NY State vendors.
