From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 12, residents may bring items to the Human Services Building on State Rt. 310 in Canton, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, another site will be set up in the Ogdensburg Industrial Park, Commerce Park Drive.

These popular events are held to give residents an environmentally responsible disposal outlet for unwanted household hazardous materials such as pesticides, oil based paints, chemicals, corrosives and fluorescent bulbs. For a complete list of accepted materials, visit www.northcountryrecyles.org.

In addition, electronic equipment and rechargeable batteries will be collected for recycling, as will unwanted pharmaceuticals.

For more information, contact Jan Oatman, Regional Recycling Coordinator at 315-661-3234 or joatman@danc.org.

These events are sponsored and organized by the Development Authority of the North Country in partnership with Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties and the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.
