POTSDAM -- The Community Performance Series will present a weekend of music and dance, featuring the Luna Negra Dance Theater and Turtle Island Quartet Jan. 31 through Feb. 2.
The Luna Negra Dance Theater will collaborate with the Turtle Island Quartet on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in SUNY Potsdam’s Snell Music Theater for a world-premiere performance.
Turtle Island Quartet will then perform the “Have You Ever Been…?” program, celebrating the music of Jimi Hendrix, Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in SUNY Potsdam’s Hosmer Hall. A pre-concert lecture will feature a member of the quartet at 6:30 p.m.
The Jan. 31 performance will feature a world-premiere piece by Spanish choreographer Fernando Hernando Magadan, with an encore performance Feb. 1. The performance will feature the ensemble’s arrangements of works by guitarist, songwriter, and performer Jimi Hendrix.
